The Catalan trail

For us, the year began with the tribute to producer Lluís Miñarro in Beijing during the Spanish Art Film Screenings. From there, the famous producer continued his international circuit, earning the Tiger Award for Best Film at Rotterdam for Finisterrae and confirming his participation as a judge at the upcoming celebration of BAFICI (Buenos Aires, Argentina). We must point out that along with the recent Barcelona City Prize for Audiovisual Productions, his list of honours has grown with the addition of the Forqué Award to Best Actress in La Mosquitera / The Mosquito Net. No doubt, Eddie Saeta's path through the world film festivals is one of the most patent indicators of the striking trajectory of the Catalan industry.

What's more, in these months we have also enjoyed this trend by the hand of the Catalan short film, which has made its way to the slates of many of this year's festivals. Along these lines, it cannot be ignored that Catalonia is a breeding ground for talent, with schools such as the ESCAC (Film and Audiovisual School of Catalonia) and the CECC (Catalan Centre for Cinema Studies), among others.

As a final point, we must point out the success of the first Animats TV Forum, an initiative of Catalan Films & TV for the animation sector, which has already begun to bear fruits that will soon come to all the exhibition platforms.
