Supporting the Catalan audiovisual industry worldwide

There's no holding back Catalan participation at festivals this summer

May has been a huge success for the Catalan audiovisual industry with two of the film industry's most important awards going to Catalan co-productions. First of all, the Cannes Film Festival's Golden Palm was awarded to the film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, in collaboration with Eddie Saeta, and secondly our congratulations go out to the Ikiru Films production company, co-producer of Biutiful by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, that picked up the award for best actor to Javier Bardem.

Cannes is the grade A festival par excellence and one of the horizons most coveted by any producer. Catalan Films congratulates both of the award-winning films as well as the other two Catalan co-productions that participated in the Festival's out-of-competition sections: Manoel de Oliveira's O Stranho caso de Angelica, also produced by Eddie Saeta and Woody Allen's You will meet a Tall Dark Stranger,  produced by Mediapro, Versátil Cinema and Gravier Productions in association with Antena 3 Films.

Following the Catalan industry's huge success this spring, it looks like summer's going to be as or even more busy with the presence of Catalan productions at the Annecy Animation Festival, the Sunny Side of the Doc, Karlovy Vary, Rio de Janeiro, Monte Carlo and Shanghai.
