Amid awards...

Could anyone ever hope for a better way to open the year than winning the most prestigious awards at both the Rotterdam Film Festival and the Spanish Film Academy's Goya Awards? Certainly not! Catalan cinema has every reason to celebrate a more than promising start of the year. Finisterrae picked up the Tiger Award, and Pa negre / Black Bread has made history, adding nine Goyas to its already extraordinary record. And the merit is that much greater if we consider that it is moreover an original-version Catalan-language production. Thus, we must take this opportunity to congratulate the producers of these two films, and by extension, all the professionals of the Catalan audiovisual industry, who are also affected by this very well-deserved success.
