Videogames, festivals and congratulations

Gamelab, which opened on 29 June, enabled us to make new contacts and warm up for the conference that we will be holding on 10 October. This will be our fourth annual round table on videogames, and once again, we will be co-hosting it with Televisió de Catalunya amid the backdrop of the Sitges Festival.

We want to applaud Paco Poch for the great response to the documentary La maleta Mexicana/The Mexican Suitcase, at Karlovy Vary, where we also saw the audiences line up to see Aita/Father, Medianeras/Sidewalls, Midnight in Paris and the short film La Huida/The Runaway. And from the Karlovy Vary Festival, we were proud to congratulate Marta Figueras for the very prestigious award that went out to Les Ones/The Waves in Moscow.

We have also received a visit from Variety, which is interested in our upcoming production harvest. And it seems that those crops are already beginning to bear their fruits, judging by the keen interests of festivals such as Warsaw, Venice and San Sebastian.

We recently met with Filmin to coordinate the preparations for the round-table discussion on VOD, which will also be held within the framework of the Sitges Festival, as the festival announced in the press conference on 4 July.

And as we sign off this article, we're off to meet with Richard Peña, the Programme Director of the New York Film Festival (hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center), who has come to pay us a visit thanks to our initial contact at the Cannes Festival. Before we go, though, we must congratulate ourselves for the recent news of the Catalan industry's participation at the upcoming Locarno Festival,  which will be featuring works by Albert Serra and José Luis Guerín.
