January 2011: The new year's profile

The new year is off to a start with loads of changes. Most importantly, the new government that is coming into office, the change of the Regional Minister of Culture, with the entrance of the former Regional Minister of Culture, Ferran Mascarell, and the anticipation of the sector's new guidelines. And as all of this gradually yet inexorably becomes a reality, our Catalan producers continue to work: the films of 2010 are reaching the end of their runs on the festival circuit, and the films of 2011 are beginning to appear.

Meanwhile, at Catalan Films we are working on both the new annual audiovisual production catalogue and the short film programme, ShortCat, which are now ready for publication, and we are already gearing up for the markets that we normally attend early in the year: Clermont Ferrand, Berlin and Cannes.

This year, Catalan Films & TV is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the Consortium can be very proud of the mature and important niche it has created for itself in the international audiovisual sector. We wish all the producers a happy anniversary and we look forward to celebrating these 25 years with many more triumphs for the industry.
