As we await the announcement of the films selected for the Berlin International Film Festival, we've got good news regarding Catalan participation at the Rotterdam Festival, which will be held between 26 January and 6 February. On the one hand, the prestigious festival, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, will be featuring the international premiere of Finisterrae, by Sergio Caballero, in the Tiger Awards competition section. Also selected for the festival's out-of-competition Bright Future section is José Mª d'Orbe's Aita.

On the other hand, the festival is offering a retrospective on Catalan director Agustí Villaronga, with a projection of his latest film, Pa Negre / Black Bread, as well as a few of his earlier works. Alongside the tribute to Villaronga, the Signals section will also be honouring North American filmmaker Nathaniel Dorsky and French director F.J. Ossange. All three of these directors will be at Rotterdam to present their films and take part in discussions with festival audiences.
