Sitges - Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantāstic de Catalunya
The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival has offered an initial glimpse of its upcoming line-up, confirming the participation of a number of Catalan productions. As previously announced, the festival will be opening with Los ojos de Julia / Julia's Eyes, by Guillem Morales, produced by Rodar y Rodar. The Official Fantastic section will also be including the Spanish premiere of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, by the Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul; Agnosia, by Eugenio Mira, produced by Roxbury Pictures, and 14 dies amb Víctor / 14 Days with Victor, directed by Román Parrado and produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures. Moreover, a screening of Sergio Caballero's Finisterrae will be offered as a special out-of-competition session in the Noves Visions section.
Within the framework of the festival, which will be held in Sitges between 7 and 17 October 2010, Catalan Films & TV and Televisió de Catalunya will be hosting a number of activities for the film industry.

For starters, the videogame conference, which, now in its third year running, will be held on 15 October. This event is made up of four presentations: "The Audiovisual Industry and Video Games", which explores big-budget productions for video game consoles and the new low-cost strategies; "The Social Networks", which looks at the feedback between social networks and the audiovisual sector; "Cool Hunting", which examines trends in audiovisual and video games; and "3D", which demonstrates that though the 3D audiovisual production can be a super production, it can also adjust to more moderate budgets. The conference speakers will be confirmed in the upcoming weeks.

What's more, work is also underway for the organization of a coproduction meeting among the Catalan, Brazilian and Italian industries. The event will follow the same overall schedule and format as those of the previous years, with a discussion of the three audiovisual industries, a presentation of the different coproduction projects currently in development, and finally, one-on-one meetings among the producers of the different countries.

The meeting with the audiovisual industries of Brazil and Italy will also be reflected in the films selected to take part in the Festival's side focus section, which this year is dedicated to these two countries.
