Berlin, an international showcase for Catalan cinema

The festival has selected Dictado / Childish Games by Antonio Chavarrías for the official competition.

The 62nd Berlinalehas selected the latest film by director and producer Antonio Chavarrías, Dictado / Childish Games (Oberon Cinematogràfica), for the official competition. Berlin has also announced the participation of Claudia Llosa's Loxoro, (Vela Producciones and Paradise Falls) in the short film competition. Llosa is now a veteran at this festival, having won the Golden Bear for her La teta asustada / The Milk of Sorrow in 2009.

The Berlinale, together with and thank to its parallel market, the European Film Market (EFM) , is the first major date on the calendar for the international audiovisual industry. This year at the EFM, another dozen Catalan titles will be shown as Market Screenings , which serve as the commercial showcase for the most recent harvest of Catalonia’s audiovisual production. These films include El Callejón / Blind Alley by Antonio Trashorras (Roxbury Films, Antena 3 Films, Dynamos Producciones and Esa Mano Amiga producciones), Fake Orgasm by Jo Sol (Zip Films), Promoción Fantasma / Ghost Graduation by Javier Ruiz Caldera (Ikiru Films, Ciskul, Mod producciones and Think Studio, in collaboration with Televisió de Catalunya), No habrá paz para los malvados / No Peace for the Wicked by Enrique Urbizu (Arcadia Mortion Pictures, lazona Films and Telecinco Cinema), Puzzled Love (Escándalo Films), Rec3 Genesis by Paco Plaza (Castelao producciones), Floquet de neu, el goril·la blanc/ Snowflake, the White Gorilla , by Andrés G.Schaer (Castelao producciones, Utopia Global, MUF Animation, Filmax Animationc and TVC), Lo contrario del amor / The Opposite of Love by Vicente Villanueva (Zeta Cinema and Antena 3 Films), El sexe dels angels / Sex of the Angels by Xavier Villaverde (Dream Team Concept, CCFBR and Continental producciones), ¿Para qué sirve un oso? / What’s a Bear Good For? by Tom Fernández (Versàtil Cinema and Alta Producción), The Pelayos by Eduard Cortés (Bausan Films, Alea Docs&Films, Kraken and Afrodita), Arrugas / Wrinkles by Ignacio Ferreras (Cromosoma, Perro Verde and TVG) and Any de Gràcia / Year of Grace by Ventura Pons (Els Films de la Rambla).

Moreover, in keeping with its annual tradition, Catalan Films & TV has set up a stand at the EFM, in the Martin Gropius-Bau (number 26). More than 33 Catalan production and distribution companies and sales agents are now on their way to the German capital seeking projects, co-producers or sales.
