This year is to see the third Catalan audiovisual market Sitges Sales Office, organised by Catalan Films & TV. It will include, among others, Honor de cavalleria (Eddie Saeta), which took part in the Un certain regard section of the latest Cannes Film Festival, Sin tí (La Productora) present at the Malaga Festival and The Kovak Box (Filmax), which has been selected for the official Premiere section in the Catalonia International Film Festival.
The Catalan Films & TV consortium is to devote this year’s SSO to Germany and East European countries, inviting a committee of buyers from the most relevant companies to learn about Catalan film and television production first hand. These include important chains such as the German ZDF and the Hungarian HBO Central Europe, Minimax CEE Group and TV2-MTV, among others. Also new this year, the SSO is scheduling pitching sessions for buyers and sellers to present their commercial objectives and each of their productions.
The SSO activities, open from 6th to 8th October, will also include a round table organised with Variety under the title Selling and Shooting in Germany and Eastern Europe, which is to take place at the Hotel Melià at 4.00 p.m. on the 7th. A representative from the guest companies and other experts from the sector are to take part in this speech. The magazine Hollywood Reporter has also looked to give its support to this initiative by becoming the official sponsor of the SSO catalogue, where all the participants and their products are included.
