The Catalan Films & TV consortium is celebrating the fifth year of its ShortCat programme, which targets the international promotion of the short films produced in Catalonia. The star of the initiative is a catalogue featuring seven short films selected by sector specialists, most of which are the art directors of international festivals.

In keeping with tradition, ShortCat will be launched at the sector’s most important festival and market, Clermont-Ferrand, an event acclaimed as the “Cannes of the short film”. Held from 27 January to 4 February 2012, Clermont-Ferrand is definitely a date to be kept for the international short film sector.

Catalan Films & TV will be taking part at the market with an exhibition space where it will be offering screenings of the titles selected for the ShortCat programme, while also supporting the Catalan companies that come to the event. This year’s Catalan participation includes twelve firms that have been provided with a transport service for the promotional material of their productions.

Moreover, as a central activity, Catalan Films & TV will be presenting both ShortCat and the attending Catalan companies at an exclusive networking event for international buyers and distributors. Alexander Rusov (Egoïst TV), Pravel Ananich (Egoïst TV), Joao Garçao (RTP2), Ludovica Fonda (RTI /Mediaset), Fred  Joubaud (Ouat Media), Guadalupe Arensburg (Canal +), Reanaud du Peloux (Eurochannel), Jean Charles Mille (Premium Films), Florence Keller (Agence du Court metrage), Agustí Argelich (Televisió de Catalunya),  Aurélie Chesné (France Télévisions) and Ruth Cantarero (RTVE) have already confirmed their attendance.
