Twenty Catalan productions take part in the Annecy Biennale
02/03/2010Festivals
The Annecy Spanish Film Festival, which will be held between 13 and 23 March this year, is a competitive event that places the spotlight on recent Spanish cinema, screening the country's most prominent productions from the past two years. The fact that the Catalan industry has been a constant participant in all fourteen celebrations of this biennale bears witness to the region's innovation, originality and talent. Thus, it comes to no surprise that Catalan Films & TV and the Institut Ramon Llull has traditionally collaborated with this event.
For a case in point, all we need is a glimpse of this year's line-up. Indeed, the examples are wide in range and represent different genres and film styles, from mainstream pictures such as [REC] and [REC 2], directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza (Castelao Productions), to documentaries including Garbo, l'home que va salvar el món / Garbo, the Man Who Saved the World, by Edmon Roch (Ikiru Films) and films such as Mar Coll's Tres dies amb la família / Three Days with the Family (Escándalo Films), the latter two of which have won both Gaudí and Goya awards.
