This coming Tuesday, 5 October, Catalan Films & TV will be launching the Catalan Cartoons brand within the framework of MipJunior and MipCom.

The new brand is envisaged to become the international insignia of the Catalan animation industry. For many years, Catalonia-based companies have been amassing awards and making heavy sales at national and international markets, making animation production one of the most enterprising sectors in the region. The Catalan Cartoons brand aims to unify and strengthen the different genres of audiovisual animation within our borders.

This extremely dynamic industry is made up of prominent producers such as Cromosoma, Imira Entertainment, D'Ocon Films, Motion Pictures, Neptuno Films, BRB Internacional, Filmax, Tomavistas and Edebé, and younger, up-and-coming companies including Aviatrix, Sol 90, Stor Fisk, Inmagic, Kotoc, Anera, Magoproduction, Pataboom, BNC, Osibis and El Jueves, with its new audiovisual division.

These companies will be taking part in MipJunior and MipCom under the Catalan Films & TV umbrella stand and representing the Catalan Cartoons brand. The productions that have already enjoyed a solid following in the international market include BRB's Suckers, Asha by Cromosoma, 4 Angies by Edebé, Sandra, The Fairytale Detective by Imira Entertainment, Meganimals by Neptuno, Funball by El Jueves and Fungi by Stor Fisk.

New projects will also have their place at the stand, with the presentation of Baobab Planet by Aviatrix, BNC's The Story Isn't Over Yet, Zookaboo by BRB Internacional, Edebé's Robot Chipa, and Snowflake and Dr. W by Magoproduction, as well as Filmax's series and animated feature, The White Gorilla, and The Happets, an animated series by Anera that is also now coming out as a feature film.

It is impossible to speak of Catalan animation without evoking the efforts and investments made by Televisió de Catalunya. With a clear spirit of close collaboration with the industry, Televisió de Catalunya has become a benchmark co-producer for Catalan animation and the broadcaster of most of the titles produced by the industry.

Supporting the event to launch Catalan Cartoons is Animation From Spain, a brand that represents Spanish animation for projection internationally, under the auspices of ICEX and FAPAE.

The Catalan Films umbrella stand at MipCom will also be accommodating a number of companies that produce television products that do not fall under the Catalan Cartoons brand, such as:

Art Mood Entertainment, Atlantic Audiovisuais, Audioprojects, Aviatrix, Benecé Produccions, BRB Internacional, Cromosoma, Diagonal Televisió, Drimtim Entertainment, D'OCON, Edebe Audiovisual, El Jueves, Enjoy, Escándalo Films, Filmax Internacional, Imira Entertainment, Inmagic Global Plus, Kotoc, MagoProduction, Media 3.14, Minoria Absoluta, Motion Pictures, Neptuno Films, Optim TV, Osibis, Patabooom, Planeta Junior, PROA, Savor Ediciones, Selectavisión , Stor Fisk, Televisió de Catalunya, Tomavistas, Track Media and Ypsilon Films.
