Catalan documentary at the eleventh celebration of Medimed

The eleventh celebration of MEDIMED will be held on Friday 8 October at the Palau Maricel in Sitges. Organized by the APIMED (International Association of Independent Producers of the Mediterranean), MEDIMED offers a real business area that is tailored to the needs of independent producers and international television channels. The idea behind the venue is to facilitate commercial and professional exchange for the promotion of documentary coproduction in the European Union and the southern countries of the Mediterranean. Thus far, more than fifty buyers and commissioning editors from the main international television channels have confirmed their attendance at the event, including AL JAZEERA, ARTE, BBC, FRANCE 3, FRANCE 5, NHK, ORF, POV, RAI, SVT, TVE, WDR and YLE, among others.

This year's MEDIMED '10 will be presenting 25 documentary projects selected by an international jury from among 136 entries from 27 countries worldwide. Moreover, the market catalogue contains 356 documentaries of every genre, produced in Euro-Mediterranean countries.

Later, on Sunday 10 October, the IV Ahmed Attia's Award for the Dialogue of Cultures will be presented. In all, 16 documentaries from previous pitching forums will be competing for a cash prize of 1000 euros. The nominees for this award include the Catalan documentaries Janadesh by Enric Alvarez, Música Savall, història Borgia / Jordi Savall and the Borgias, by Maria Gorgues and Cuchillo de Palo / 108, by Renate Costa, all of which feature the participation of TVC.
