Brazilian Festival of Catalan Creative Documentaries
José Luís Guerín retrospective and documentary festival for six days in Rio de Janeiro18/05/2010
Showcase
In recent years Catalonia has become an audiovisual creation platform for documentaries that's been closely tied to the appearance of the so-called creative documentary schools in Barcelona. Within this scene and thanks to the growing interest of Brazilian audiences in films that are outside the commercial circuit, the Pindorama Cultural Association in Barcelona and the Aroeira Produçoes Artísticas e Culturais production company, in collaboration with Catalan Films and the Ramon Llull Institute, have organized the Catalonian Creative Documentary Festival. The Caixa Cultural in Rio de Janeiro will be the venue for this festival held from 1st to 5th June.
The documentary En construcción by José Luis Guerín opens the Festival, which includes his other films Innisfree, Tren de sombras and En la ciudad de Sylvia. It will also be screening Joaquim Jordà's films De Nens and Más Allá del Espejo; Cravan Vs. Cravan and La Leyenda del Tiempo by Isaki Lacuesta; Iván Z and Paralelo 10 by Andrés Duque; Ich bin Enric Marco, by Santiago Fillol and Lucas Vermal; and La Terra Habitada by Anna Sanmartí.
