Avalanche of Catalan films at the San Sebastian International Film Festival

The Catalan industry has always had its place at the Donosti Festival, and even more so this year, as all four of the Spanish films in the official section are from Catalonia. These films are: Aita, by José Mª Orbe, produced by Eddie Saeta; Elisa K, by Judith Colell and Jordi Cadena, produced by Oberon Cinematogràfica and Televisió de Catalunya; Pa Negre / Black Bread, by Agustí Villaronga, produced by Massa d'Or and Televisió de Catalunya; and El Gran Vázquez / The Great Vazquez, by Òscar Aibar, produced by Distinto Films, Castafiore Films and Tornasol Films.
Out of competition yet also in the Official Selection is Bicicleta, cullera, poma / Bicycle, Spoon, Apple, the documentary film about Pasqual Maragall, the former President of the Regional Government of Catalonia, directed by Carles Bosch and produced by Cromosoma and Televisió de Catalunya.
Guest, by José Luís Guerín has also been selected to take part in the Zabaltegi-Specials section, alongside Isaki Lacuesta's new documentary, La noche que no acaba / All the Night Long. Moreover, the Zabaltegi-New Directors section will be including a film produced by Escándalo Films and directed by Elena Trapé, Blog; and finally, Buried, by Rodrigo Cortés, produced by Versus Entertainment, Dark Trick Films and The Safran Company, will be taking part in the Zabaltegi-Pearls section.
If this considerable participation were not enough, the Made in Spain section will be screening the films Esquivar i pegar / Dodge and Hit, Caracremada, El cònsul de Sodoma / The Consul of Sodom, El problema: testimoni del poble saharaui / The Problem: Testimony of the Saharawi People, Estigmas / Stigmata, Fake Orgasm, La terra habitada / The Inhabited Land, María y yo / Maria and I, Pájaros de papel / Paper Birds and Rec2.
To celebrate this massive arrival of the Catalan industry in the Basque Country, Catalan Films, with the collaboratin of Institut Ramon Llull, will be hosting a special event on 23 September at the Hotel Mª Cristina for all industry professionals, Spanish and internationals alike.
