This year, the Sitges Film Festival is putting its characteristic descriptor, "fantastic" back into its official name and at the same time, dedicating its first day to Catalan genre cinema with the much-awaited REC 2, once again directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. Thus, Sitges joins the list of festivals that have come to view Catalonia as one of the most prolific and abundantly talented breeding grounds for "fantastic" films.
In keeping with the last celebrations of the festival, Catalan Films & TV will be supporting all the Catalan production titles taking part in the festival, which will be quite a few this year. In addition to the opening gala, we now have a bit more information on the Catalan presence at the event, such as the participation the of the eclectic film Ingrid, which, directed by Eduard Cortés (Benecé Produccions and Televisió de Catalunya), was born out of social networks such as MySpace and Flickr.
