Festivals
First, it was Isabel Coixet with her invaluable presence at the Berlin Festival, where the Golden Bear went out to the Catalan production La teta asustada / The Milk of Sorrow by Claudia Llosa (Oberon Cinematogràfica, Wanda Visión and Vela Producciones). And just a few weeks ago, two other competitions announced the inclusion of Catalan filmmakers on their juries. Thus, producer Lluís Miñarro will be forming part of the jury at Locarno, and filmmaker Pere Portabella has been appointed President of the Orizzonti Section at the Venice Film Festival.
All three are festival regulars, thanks to the films they have made. Isabel Coixet has just competed at Cannes, with her Map of the Sounds of Tokyo. For Pere Portabella, it was precisely in Venice where he presented his graceful production, The Silence Before Bach. Finally, Lluís Miñarro boasts an extraordinary CV, as he managed to take part in both the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs and Locarno in 2007, with two of his productions in each of these festivals.
