The audiovisual industry is not unscathed by the effects of the economic crisis. After MIPCOM's rather muted results, there are hopes that the next MIPTV, the first television market of the year to be held in Cannes, will have at least the same turnout as it had in recent years. As regards the Catalan delegation, the group has increased in size over the past years and expects to number nearly fifty at the upcoming event, between 30 March and 3 April.
With a predominance of companies specialising in documentary and animation, MIPTV's Catalan participants will be taking their places under the Catalan Films & TV umbrella stand. This year the sprawling stand will occupy three different booth spaces in the Palais des Festivals: R33.16, R35.18 and R35.24. The consortium has decided to reinforce the presence of the Catalan brand to promote the viewing of the region's productions, with specific signs inside the convention centre and the publication of a guide of all the companies taking part under the umbrella stand.
Generating a business volume of nearly 4 billion euros each year, MIPTV, like MIPCOM, is a must on the calendar of any audiovisual production company that wishes to sell its products abroad.
