Six Catalan companies travel to Paris for a co-production meeting supported by Catalan Films & TV
26/06/2008Meeting
On June 20 a group of Catalan producers met with their French counterparts to discuss future co-productions between the two territories. The meeting formed part of the first edition of Différent!, a three day exposition (June 20-22) organised by Agence France Press correspondent José María Riba and Javier Martín, Forum des Images member and programmer of the Cannes Director's Fortnight, and was designed to give French audiences a taste of alternative cinema.
The co-production meeting was principally organised by the Commission du Film d'Ile-de-France, with a selection of twenty French producers. On the Catalan side, Catalan Films & TV called for participants through the major producer's associations APIC, PAC and BA, which form part of the CF&TV consortium. The main objective was for two regional entities - Ile-de-France and Catalan Films & TV - to provide the ideal environment for strengthening co-production potential between their respective territories.
This first co-production meeting set up to examine proposals for collaboration between the Catalan and French audiovisual industries was supported by Catalan Films & TV, and served as a prelude to a full co-production plan targeting France as one of two focus territories in 2009 alongside Mexico.
