Catalan Films & TV hold a second co-production meeting between the Catalan and Canadian animation industries

Catalan Films & TV, the consortium for the promotion of the Catalan audiovisual industry, once again held a co-production meeting between animation producers from Catalonia and Canada. On this second occasion the format was expanded to include screenings, and heads of acquisition from seven Canadian companies were invited, including those from Nickelodeon and Teletoon Canada, further increasing the value of the initiative.
The program also included four round-table discussions with industry experts from both territories, which were:
- Overview of the Canadian & Catalan animation industries and sources of governmental funding, with Susan Abramovitch of Gowlings, and Marc López of the Institut Català de les Indústries Culturals (Catalan Department for Culture).
- Advantages of co-producing with Europe - Overview, with Alex Navarro Garrich, director of Media Antena Catalunya, Sergi Reitg of Imira Entertainment, and Kevin Gillis of Breakthrough Animation.
- Legal aspects of co-production and distribution between both countries, with local expert Enric Enrich of Enrich Advocats and Susan Abramovitch of Gowlings.
- Industry Trends Panel - Views on the industry, with Jordi Serra, head of co-productions at Televisió de Catalunya; Carlos Biern of BRB; Ana Izquierdo, Senior Manager Acquisitions & Compliance for Walt Disney Television International; Caroline Tyre, Director of Programming for Teletoon Canada Inc. and Joana Carrión, Head of Editorial for Nickelodeon Spain.
This was the second CF&TV activity focussed on the Canadian market this year, following participation in the international documentary festival Hotdocs. The consortium for the international promotion of the Catalan business focuses its activities at markets, festivals, etc on two key territories each year, which for 2008 are Germany and Canada.
