Co-production Meetings & Talent Campus within the framework of the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia
18/07/2007Meeting | Meeting
On 4 and 5 October, just as the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia opens, Catalan Films & TV will be holding a number of co-production meetings and a talent campus, thus making use of the 28-region platform of Cine Regio, a European association that it is a member of.
For two days this event will bring together four different types of players (institutions, production companies, new directors and investors -distributors and television stations), who will share their projects, experiences and new outlooks to foster international co-productions and support Europe's new up-and-coming talent, embodied this time by the new directors.
Over 71 participants from the rest of Europe have already signed up. As to the Catalan participation, 15 projects have been presented, thanks to cooperative efforts with production associations (BA - PAC - APIC) and 8 new directors, chosen by our local schools and universities (Blanquerna, CECC, Pompeu Fabra and Escac). We expect a turnout of between 130 and 140 sector professionals at the different meetings and presentations that Catalan Films & TV is coordinating.
With the collaboration of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIC) and the Barcelona-Catalunya Film Commission, there will also be two round-table discussions sponsored by Variety magazine. The discussion scheduled for 4 October will explore the issue of European financial case studies with small and medium budgets, and the following day's discussion will focus on new European talent.
